I just read an article today on the Communication Arts Web site, titled 'The Other Inconvenient Truth,' which speaks about the need to preserve creativity in our society.
I thought that this article had so many strong points that it was too good not to share with everyone.
One part that rang so loudly was this:
"We can think cobbling together bits and pieces of other legitimately original works makes us creative all we want, but it’s a delusional concept. Not only is it demotivating to truly creative people, it sends a terrible message. That your original idea is my original idea and as such I have a right to do anything I want with it. Fact: It’s creative people who make the world a better place, not creative leeches."

I found that article fascinating. He articulates well a fear I've had for some time.
I've found my own way to rebel against it. I survive to a large extent on site specific design and fabrication, mostly decorative arts in metal, but industrial design as well. www.sfitzgeraldfineart.com
Thank you Bill for this post...

Yeah, that article is pretty powerful. There was no way that I could read it and not share it with everyone.
Thanks for your reply and may you continue to be blessed with such incredible talent.
