  preparation is the key. The better you prepare the surface underneath the easier it will go on. If your using a discernible pattern make sure the seams match. Follow the instructions on the package.

  And patience. Alot of patience. At some point or another, most people putting up wallpaper get so frustrated they are ready to chew it.

  Use a level to make sure your design is going on straight.
