Need some opinions.
I already have the job. I'm working in the field. But I feel like I'm really a little behind the times (I started out cutting color separations and stripping negs, if any of you remember that), and I KNOW I'm not using the software to its best possible advantage. Most of my work is print -- designing medical forms and a few identity pieces, and running prepress work on other designer's stuff -- but I'd like to branch out and do more creative work for our customers.
There isn't really a program of night classes offered here at the college, so I'm looking at something online. I looked at sessions.edu a while back because they covered digital illustration and some stuff that looked interesting. I have specific skills in form design, but I'm looking for more generic graphic design (print or web) and I'd like a program that has a lot of options like that.
I don't need a job, so I don't need placement services or anything like that, but I want to know that whatever program I choose it will be a good value. I'm thinking a certificate program would be nice, just to have some gold star to work towards :)
So -- suggestions? Does anybody have any horror stories about any of the programs out there? Any one you'd personally recommend? I'm not looking for another degree, but I'm not adverse to taking the course load for one.
What's the best of the online options? Thanks in advance!

Let me clarify -- I'm looking for PRINT design programs, but I'm interested in cross-media and some web stuff too.

For $25 a month or $250 a year you can get unlimited acces
to some of the best graphic artists in the world at Lynda.com:
movielibrary.lynda.com/html/u...orm.asp
Only thing is this is more for learning software than principles of design.
at least check it out, they will provide a 24 Free pass if you inquire.

These people have on-line programs. I've visited their San Francisco campuses several times. They are known as a "trade school." If it's a certificate and skills you're after, this might be for you. They're light on theory and academics, but I've always been impressed by the evident skills acquired by their student body.
I remember. Certified graphic arts camera operator here. haha
