I recently took a job as a web designer, which is something I have not done much of. Years ago I was an excellent unix network administrator but have since fallen out of the IT sector. Now I have an excellent opportunity to return and I find myself stumbling with all the different programming options. Being an administrator I am familiar with Perl and administered many other languages but I never wrote my own scripts. So when my new employer asked me if I knew shopping carts I confidently answered yes. Now I realize my experience is limited to server adminisration and not the actual creation of a shopping cart. My question is what language would you recommend a newbie to create a shopping cart in? Hopefully something easy and quick to learn without the need of previous knowledge.
